User Experience Design for the Responsive Web

Whether they realise it or not, every company is in the user experience business.  The best products and services have design at their very core. By putting our user at the centre of our design process we can create better and more delightful experiences. Many organisations are waking up to the benefits of user research driven interaction and interface design.

In this workshop, through practical activities and real-world examples we will delve into how we as designers, developers and product owners can challenge assumptions and influence business strategy to deliver better, more delightful experiences for our users regardless of screen size. Through practical activities and real-world examples we will teach you techniques for effectively gathering requirements, conducting user research and planning information architecture. The session will also teach techniques for sketch prototyping responsive interfaces, as well as testing and refining designs when faced with real-world constraints such as budget and time.

You’ll learn:

  • Challenging assumptions in your organisation
  • How UX can transform business strategy
  • Striking a balance between user and client needs
  • Techniques for understanding and researching user requirements
  • Planning information architecture for the responsive web
  • Participatory design techniques and sketch prototyping
  • Evaluating designs through testing and critiques
